Gynecomastia

Gynecomastia is the abnormal and excessive growth of breasts in men, which may occur at any age (infants, adolescents, and the elderly). Actually, instead of growing fat, the gland in the breast enlarges. This condition may occur on both sides of the breast, but in some cases only one side of the breast becomes enlarged. The main cause of this phenomenon is the increase in the ratio of estrogen to testosterone, which is a disorder in the body's endocrine system. That is, when the ratio of estrogen (female hormone) to testosterone (male hormone) increases for any reason, gynecomastia occurs. There is no need to worry when the size of the breast tissue is less than 2.5 cm. Otherwise, he should undergo treatment and surgery.

Factors affecting gynecomastia

In fact, it is by reducing the amount of testosterone and increasing the production of estrogen in men that causes this disorder. Factors such as male sexual organ disorders (tests), infection, aging, disease, malnutrition and the use of certain drugs have a significant effect on the occurrence of this disorder. Also, cancers other than testicular tumors may produce hormones that can cause gynecomastia.
